Real value of building plans passed increases by 1.2%

Real value of recorded building plans passed increases by 1.3% year on year during January to April 2015.

The real value of recorded building plans passed (at constant 2010 prices) increased by 1.3% year on year during January to April 2015‚ data released by Stats SA on Thursday showed.

Increases were recorded for residential buildings (15% or R1.6bn) and additions and alterations (2.2% or R135.4m).

Nonresidential buildings fell by 23.9% or R1.4bn.

The real value of buildings reported as completed (at constant 2010 prices) decreased by 7.8% or R1.1bn year on year during January to April 2015.

Decreases were reported for nonresidential buildings‚ down 27.3% or R1.1bn and additions and alterations fell by 7.4% or R201.6m.

Residential buildings rose by 3% or R207.1m.
