The Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) announced that on 13 February 2013 the Cabinet of the Republic of South Africa officially appointed Ms Sonja Pilusa Chief Executive officer (CEO) of the organisation.
Ms Pilusa assumes this responsibility after holding the position of Acting CEO of the CETA for the past 13 months.
Prior to that she had served a five-month stint as Corporate Services Advisor to the Administrator of the Public Service SETA (PSETA), followed by another six months in a similar position at the CETA.
Before joining the skills development arena Ms Pilusa had held the position of Country Director of an international public health organisation for seven years.
Ms Pilusa is therefore eminently qualified to lead a SETA as critical as the Construction SETA at a time when our country embarks on its biggest ever infrastructure development intervention – an initiative which requires accelerated skills development in construction.
We call upon all the stakeholders of the CETA to embrace her appointment and give her all the support she requires to serve the organisation, the construction sector and the country.
Our gratitude goes to the DG and the Minister of Higher Education and Training for their role in sheperding the CETA’s request for the appointment of a CEO through Cabinet.
